In November (before the Omicron variant was discovered), I flew for the first time since the pandemic. Prior to that, my last flight anywhere was in the summer of 2019 when I flew abroad.
I was surprised by how much I forgot despite being fairly well traveled. In an effort not to repeat the mistakes of my past and hopefully help fellow travelers out there (especially beginning travelers), I’ve compiled a list of 10 pieces of advice for you.
1) Use Different Wallets for Different Currencies
Although I had remembered to bring separate wallets for my US dollars and euros, I was able to pass this advice along to a fellow traveler who appreciated the tip.
Try to bring a wallet that has a separate compartment for coins, but if you don’t have one it’s useful to bring along a pouch or something else to hold coins of another currency.
It’s a lot easier having those bills and coins readily available in one place than trying to dig deep into your purse like you’re cave diving for coins or removing bills of different currencies from the same wallet only to find out you’ve given someone the wrong currency.
2) Don’t Wear Tight Shoes on the Plane
